BSC is a mandatory document that is needed for all shipments in Ivory Coast. Also known as CTN, this document was determined as a regulation in 2005 by the Ivorian Customs Officials. In case of failure to present the BSC document, there would be severe consequences and a hefty fine.
As per this law, every cargo that is purchased from abroad and transported for commercial, business needs a Loading Certificate called BSC. The shipper is responsible for getting the BSC waiver certificate from an authorized representative.
Documents Needed -
- Bill of Lading – A draft copy is used to generate the BSC. The original copy is needed along with the date of issue before the validation.
- Commercial Invoice
- Freight Invoice: Needed if the freight cost isn’t present on the commercial invoice.
- Export Customs Declaration
- Packing List – Document reference, the date, the number, and type of container have to be mentioned
- Certificate of Origin
- Local Certificate of Insurance (Local certificate assurance) & FDI Document – The importer is required to get it from Ivory Coast

Regulations
As per the Ivory Coast Customs regulations, all the cargoes going to Ivory Coast have to be accompanied by a BSC certificate which should be validated five days before the vessel arrives at the port. In case the cargo will not be cleared, it will be sent back to the source station if the BSC certificate is not provided.
Shipments that arrive without BSC or with false information on BSC are twice charged with respect to the certificate cost along with the regulation charge which will be fixed by the Ivory Coast National Port Officials.
